Yorkville University Partners with Brighton College to Widen the Scope of Education and Career Possibilities
Yorkville University’s articulation agreement with Brighton College, the BC-based technical institution with campuses in Surrey and Burnaby, BC, means new opportunities for individuals who are seeking to take advantage of the changing nature of education delivery and career planning.
According to Amanda Cabrera, Dean of Academics at Brighton College, this partnership means that students can launch their careers in business earlier, without sacrificing their income while completing their undergraduate degree.
“What’s fantastic about this…is that students come through [Brighton College], receive the practical hands-on training that they need in our business program, and then do their co-op. That way, they get work experience and may even get a full-time job,” explained Cabrera. “The beauty of our articulation with Yorkville is that [Yorkville’s] programs are so flexible, that they could continue to work full-time and still get their degree.”
Yorkville University’s agreement with Brighton College allows students to transfer credits from Brighton’s Advanced Business Management program towards Yorkville University’s Bachelor of Business Administration. This means students may complete their degree in as few as 2.5 years, without compromising their career standing or their earning potential.
“It could be a student straight out of high school who wants to do this, or a mid-career professional, or someone with a family who needs that flexibility,” said Cabrera. “But I really like that they can go on and have the option and the means to complete their degree because a lot of people really need to work full-time.”
Brighton College is also increasingly employing a blended learning approach, with more of their courses being offered online, which will allow their students to transition easily to Yorkville’s BBA program.
“[This partnership] is a way for students to continue to go on and study in that format,” Cabrera said. “We have our digital marketing coming soon fully online, so it may be a student who likes digital marketing, loves studying online, then wants to do some of our business courses, and then continues studying online at Yorkville. [Yorkville’s programs] fit that learning style that we’re starting to focus more on.”
